Even though
Fernando Alonso supposedly retired from Formula One at the end of last season, rumours have rumbled on about the Spaniard returning to the sport in the next few years.
Alonso may have just turned 38, but former
McLaren driver and fellow Spaniard
Pedro de la Rosa believes that it doesn't matter if the two time world champion returns next year or in future years.
De la Rosa told AS newspaper: “Nobody knows. But we can only hope so because there are very few geniuses behind the wheel and I know that he is one of them.
“Whether he is Spanish or not, I want to see the best in F1. But it’s a very personal decision.
“He can wait. It’s not an all or nothing year. When I got to 40 I felt no reduction in my performance."
Would Alonso fit back into F1 in the near future or not?
