Pierre Gasly did not have a great weekend in Britain. The Frenchman was in battle with Lance Stroll several times. In their last fight, the two drivers hit each other, which meant the end of the race for Gasly. The Alpine driver argues that everything went wrong on Sunday at Silverstone.
Stroll and Gasly entered turn 15 wheel-to-wheel and the Canadian was on the outside in the process. Gasly did not leave much room for the Aston-Martin driver and Stroll went off the track, but did overtake the Frenchman. Stroll ultimately received no penalty for this, causing huge surprise for the Alpine driver.
"Leaving the track and gaining an advantage. Everything that I've seen, he had four wheels off the track passing me and that's gaining an advantage. I got down 15 seconds last weekend for track limits. Now I lose a position today with someone getting off the track and nothing happens. Formula 2, Victor Martins was in the lead and got a 5 second penalty for the exact same thing. I'm just extremely confused with what's going on at the moment," Gasly told GPblog and others.
The safety car came out about halfway through the race at Silverstone and did not exactly benefit Gasly. "Then with the safety car, I boxed half a lap earlier. It just seemed like everything went the wrong way. We boxed half a lap earlier. Alex [Albon] and Alonso boxed the lap after. I was right behind Fernando, who exited P6 and I exited P11. Right there we lost 5 positions. Nothing we can control there. It was just unlucky timing."
