Pierre Gasly felt pleased with the way he raced in qualifying after recording a tenth-place finish and reaching the Q3 in Austin. His teammate
Daniil Kvyat wasn't able to perform quite as well but still came through in a positive 13th.
The Frenchman finished inside the top ten last weekend in Mexico and he will be looking to preserve his position in sixth in the drivers' standings with
Carlos Sainz and
Alex Albon not far behind.
“I’ve felt strong in the car this weekend and we were in the Top 10 in all of the sessions, it felt good as I could push the way I want, " Gasly told Toro Rosso after qualifying.
"We’ve made it into Q3 for three races in a row, so we can be pleased with that.
"I’m satisfied with the performance today, and I like the way the team is working together.
"Tomorrow is the day that counts and hopefully we can continue the run of points to help us in the Constructors’ Championship."
