Just as it looked
Pierre Gasly's form was improving the Frenchman suffered a disappointing P8 in Canada but he's insisted the car felt good despite a frustrating weekend all round for
Red Bull.
Gasly qualified in fifth for the
Canadian Grand Prix but was unable to replicate that result in the race itself, as he dropped down to eighth behind his teammate
Max Verstappen and both
Renault drivers. It was a result which goes against his improved form of late as he continues to adapt to life at Red Bull.
After being overtaken on the opening lap by
Daniel Ricciardo the Frenchman never properly recovered but he still feels the car felt good despite results suggesting otherwise.
“It was a pretty difficult day but the car actually felt quite good so it is disappointing to finish where we did,” said Gasly as quoted by
The Chequered Flag.
“We expected to be stronger than this.
“We struggled with traffic and had to save the brakes, which compromised us a bit, and I, of course, wanted to finish better than this.
"We need to analyse everything and see what we can improve but I also need to work hard before the next race."
