The second free practice session of the
Russian Grand Prix provided little spectacle.
Valtteri Bottas and
Lewis Hamilton finished in the first two places, while
Max Verstappen had to settle for sixth.
The incident of
Antonio Giovinazzi however was remarkable. The Italian driver lost control of his car after half an hour and hit the wall backwards. The incident resulted in Giovinazzi, who was in 14th place at the time, being unable to continue and the red flag was visible.
Battle between Räikkönen and Giovinazzi
His teammate Kimi Räikkönen did more than a tenth better, which brought the Finn to the twelfth position. Both drivers are almost equal in the world championship. Räikkönen has scored two points so far, while the Italian driver has one point less.
