The organisers of the
Miami Grand Prix had grand plans early this year: more spectators, (even) more entertainment and an evening race. The first point - and probably the second - will be put into practice next year. Fans do not seem to have to count on an evening race.
After the first edition around the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, the track drew criticism from drivers. Main points of concern were the chicane labelled as dangerous and the wall on the outside of turn 14. Last year, these thorny points were slightly adjusted.
F1 drivers need not count on further adjustments for the time being, as the layout in '24 remains identical to a year earlier.
Inspired by the Las Vegas Grand Prix - which is held in the evening - the organisers of the Miami GP also thought aloud about moving the race from the afternoon to the evening. Not only nice for the picture, but also a relief for the fans and drivers in attendance. After all, it can be scorching hot in Miami during the day. Staying in the dark is better. Still, an evening race in Miami in '24 is highly unlikely. According to Horton, it is '
highly unlikely'.
