The man from Stevenage squeezed an impressive 1:21.164 out of his Mercedes, seven-tenths of a second quicker than second-placed Kimi Raikkonen.
"The Ferrari's are very close to us," Hamilton said after the qualifying was over.
"We were afraid of that before the qualifying even started, but now they showed that they are."

After all these years of winning, one might think that Hamilton might take another pole position for granted, but the Brit said otherwise.
"That bizarre feeling you get when you have to push yourself to your limits to squeeze out a lap like that, I'll never get used to that."
