The 2021 Formula 1 season has started and with 23 races on the calendar the drivers can look forward to a long season. Looking at the penalty points, some drivers have to be more careful than others.
Formula 1 has been working with penalty points on the licence for a couple of years now. These penalty points can be given to a driver by committing a mistake or infringement during a Grand Prix weekend. If a driver gets 12 points in 12 months he has to sit out one race.

Suspension for one F1 race

George Russell and Lewis Hamilton will not be starting the season with a clean sheet. They are both already on six points, which means they are already half way to a suspension. Hamilton came close in 2020 when he needed just a few points for a suspension. A few points have been lost since then, because the points had already expired.
Lando Norris and Kimi Raikkonen are also the drivers to watch out for with five and four points respectively. There are also seven other drivers who have penalty points to their name. Nine drivers on the grid are still on zero points, including Max Verstappen, Fernando Alonso and of course the three Rookies.

i haven't bothered to look at the specific incidents that have resulted in hamilton & russell's placement here but for hamilton the two incidents that spring immediately to mind are his punting of albon, not once but twice off the track; #1 resulting in albon missing out on a probable win and #2 probably a 3rd place. i like hamilton; he's quick and historically one of the cleanest top drivers in history but in this, meh not so much. it's probably not unrealistic to say that if albon had taken that win and 3rd place his career trajectory would be looking markedly different than it is today.

Russell’s points were mainly for not slowing down sufficiently during yellow flags.
Come on, you are on a hot lap during qualifying, then you get a stupid driver who can’t drive who has just spun in front of you, so you will try to slow down as little as possible so as not to stuff up your whole lap!
Hamilton's points on the other hand, is for twice having accidents with Albon, driving into a closed pit lane and actually should have more points for doing practise starts at an unsafe place. He thinks being a 6 times WDC (at the time of the incidents) that he should have the right to do starts from a different place compared to where all other 'normal' drivers have to do it at.

Idiot..the close pitlane incicdent and double practice starts was instructions from the team..and to talk about luck...Charls did the same thing in his Ferrari and he got no penalty...

Luckily for Russell his suspension won't cost him potential 25 points... Again Lewis has a deal with luck.. usually it sticks around when he needs it.. so don't hold your breath just yet... haha

Is there anybody who does really believe LH will be given a suspension?
...and then all hell broke loose!
