Lewis Hamilton thanks his team on track, and the Mercedes guys back in Brackley. As he got out of his car in Japan, he thanked his team for creating a car which he called a "beast" on several occasions. The Brit now moves much closer the title, a title which he can win next weekend in Austin.

Four-time World Champion Hamilton cruised at the front for the duration of the event. Never once did he lose his lead in what was described as a comfortable drive. Following the race, he got out of his car and spoke to David Coulthard.

"I loved it. The weekend has been strong by the whole team," the Mercedes driver said.

"This track is the best track in the world, every second was the great fun."

Even though he was out in front, he admitted on the team radio he had some problems regarding engine trouble. Following the conclusion of the race, he also admitted he struggled to look after the tyres.

"I wasn't able to look after the tyres as well as I wanted. I asked the team and they said it was okay. Really these guys her and the guys at the factory are great, they work so hard to create this beast so I'm proud and grateful to do what I do," Hamilton added after picking up his 50th win inside a Silver Arrow.

He was then asked if he felt like he virtually won the championship. A standard response followed despite now needing to beat Sebastian Vettel by eight points.

"I take it one step at a time. Austin is a good track for us, and I can't wait to unleash this beast," Hamilton concluded.
