Lewis Hamilton has embraced the fact that the minimum weight of drivers will change in 2019, as the four-time champion actually said he's excited to change his training programme for next season.
The minimum weight for drivers is likely to go up to about 80 kilograms, which is way more than the 66 kilo's Hamilton currently weighs. The current rules don't have a minimum weight for the driver but a combined minimum weight for the driver and the car combined, which can be a disadvantage for taller, bigger drivers like Esteban Ocon.
“My comfortable weight is a little bit higher than I am and every year all the drivers, especially the taller and bigger boned ones are under more pressure to get skinnier,” Hamilton told Crash.net when talking about next season's rules.
“Next year the rules are changing which I think is cool."
Hamilton often uses his social media as a platform to promote his healthy lifestyle, as he's a devoted vegan among other things. However, he admits that he can be insecure about his body.
“I wake up sometimes and have my insecurities," he continued.
"I have a six pack but it is not as good as I would like.
"There are certain things that I have insecurities about like I am sure every single person has.
"As do all those people that are on social media who look perfect and you may aspire to be like.
"They also have insecurities.
“I guess I was trying to be a bit more open about an insecurity I may have.
"My legs aren’t an insecurity.
"My dad has chicken legs and I have chicken legs.”
