Max Verstappen was the source of a lot of the action during the Chinese Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton says he feared he could have been involved in a crash with Max Verstappen during the Chinese Grand Prix.
Verstappen, who was already recovering from an earlier error involving an attempted overtake on Hamilton, collided with Sebastian Vettel at turn 14, spinning the championship leader around and ruining his race.
With the chaos in front, Hamilton was wiery about becoming caught in the trouble at the hairpin.
"I was definitely worried of catching (crashing into) them, especially as they were trying to turn around, so I thought I might get caught there.
"But anyway, I got through safely.
"I came towards the apex and I saw them both facing me.
"So I was like, 'I can't do the tighter turn that Kimi had done', so I had to go left."
Ironically, it was Verstappen's driving that gifted Hamilton a result, with Vettel dropping down the order and ended up finishing in eighth position.
"Naturally, (I'm) thankful for the way he drives, because that meant we didn't lose too many points today."
Hamilton currently sits second in the drivers' championship, nine points behind leader Vettel.
