Lewis Hamilton remains hopeful that the 2019 aerodynamic changes will help improve the racing for fans. The five-time world champion was often complaining last year because of the lack of overtaking.
With the 2019 season looming, Hamilton believes his
Silver Arrow will be harder to drive.
"I hope our engineers have been able to return to the performance level of last year's car. The new rules promise that the cars will be more nervous and difficult to drive for the drivers," said five-time world champion in an interview with F1Only.
"It is an interesting challenge if we call ourselves Mercedes and we have won since 2014, then we can not help but continue with this development."
The off-season sees plenty of drivers switching seats. Both rivals Red Bull and
Ferrari alter their line-up, and Hamilton remains cautious about this. He also believes the exciting 'silly season' is a foreshadow of what's to come.
"The team also wants a new world title, but we know it will not be an easy year. Ferrari is already there, Red Bull and Honda will grow, but also Renault with Daniel Ricciardo," Hamilton added.
"This promises a lot of spectacles and everyone knows that we like competition, it only makes the victories even better. I hope for many victories in 2019 and of course the world title, but I especially want a nice championship with exciting races for the fans," emphasized Hamilton.
