Lewis Hamilton states in an interview with Formula1.com that he is very grateful to Toto Wolff. With the team boss, the British driver managed to take his number of world titles to seven over the years, making him the record holder along with Michael Schumacher.

"Toto is one of my best friends," he explained. "We’ve had tough, tough times, we’ve had tough negotiations, there’s been emotional bursts, a rollercoaster of emotions together over the years, but we’re like family. I want what’s best for him. He wants what is best for me."

Hamilton also notes that Wolff is always there for him in difficult situations. "We always can jump on the phone and talk about whatever that is. Our values are aligned and our goals are aligned – in the brand, in helping this team grow and what it wants to achieve."

The driver stresses that, above all, at Mercedes he feels he is allowed to be himself. This has allowed him not only to win many prizes with his team in recent years, but also to try to put subjects on the map in the world.

Possible longer stay at Mercedes for Hamilton

Consequently, he does not seem to be thinking of ever switching to another team in Formula 1. Last week, Hamilton even revealed that he would like to extend his expiring contract, which runs until the end of 2023.
