Brendon Hartley has faced plenty of grief this week with drivers being rumoured to replace the struggling New Zealander. Lando Norris was reportedly offered his seat, but McLaren turned it down.
Despite this, Hartley remains positive he will see out his contract at Toro Rosso and looks forward to getting the Honda upgrade this weekend.
“I know what my contract says. I’m very confident in the work I’ve been doing behind the scenes with Toro Rosso to develop the car,” said Hartley to f1i.com.
“Upgrades coming is positive. I’m looking forward to hopefully putting a good weekend in place. But I don’t think it makes a lot of sense to comment on rumours.
“Anyway, like I say, I know what my contract says - I know I have the ability to be here and doing a good job in Formula 1.”
Hartley has scored just one solitary point this season whilst team-mate Gasly a 4th place finish to her name. He was one of three drivers that retired from the Monaco Grand Prix.
When asked if he had spoken to the boss, Hartley denied any dialogue between the two.
“I haven’t actually spoke to Franz [Tost] yet. To be honest with you, I’m focused on this weekend.”
