With Renault pressuring Red Bull Racing over the future of the engine, technical director of Honda Toyoharu Tanabe insists he will not rush the Milton Keynes based team.
Renault, who have provided the engines for Red Bull since 2007, set a deadline for the team to choose which engine provider they wish to chose for next season. Renault engine boss Remi Taffin emphasises this:
"I do not deal with contracts, I leave that to my superior, Cyril Abiteboul, who conducts the relevant discussions.
"But when it comes to the technical aspect, there are obviously deadlines that we have to adhere to, because we have to order certain parts.
"As a guideline, we have called the end of May, because then we have to order some parts for our customers, just like all other manufacturers."
However Tanabe has a more relaxed approach, saying:
"As a technical director, I barely deal with contract matters.
"But we have started the talks in Baku and the discussions are still going on.
"At the moment, I can not give a precise time when we need an answer. "
