After the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Yuki Tsunoda has completed three Grands Prix with Red Bull Racing. Although the gap with Max Verstappen is still significant, the Japanese driver expects it to decrease over time.
Due to Liam Lawson's underperformance in Japan, Yuki Tsunoda got the chance to drive for the main team. After three Grands Prix, it's time to assess. The Japanese driver is essentially in a good position and has scored multiple points, but the gap with Max Verstappen is actually too large.

How Tsunoda Expects to Close the Gap to Verstappen

After the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Tsunoda explained to GPblog among others why this difference is so significant. "It's like this, I receive a briefing and I also talk consistently with the engineers, but these things really come with experience. This car behaves differently on every circuit, so it's very hard to predict. Each circuit behaves differently, and you face new things. Max probably had a similar feeling in Bahrain."
Therefore, due to a lack of experience, the Japanese driver expects the gap to decrease as time progresses. "It's just those sorts of things, of course there are parts nobody can anticipate, but the things that people, who understand Max well and the engineers, come from their experience from previous Grands Prix. It's not that they can just tell it. Because I don't fully understand how that exactly feels in the car. So for those things, I just need to take the time and build up," concluded Tsunoda.
