Robert Kubica says a drive in the World Endurance Championship alongside his duties at Williams was 'too risky'. Kubica returned to Formula One after sustaining permanent damage to his right forearm in a rallying crash.
Kubica is currently the test driver for Williams alongside a very inexperienced pairing of Lance Stroll and Sergey Sirotkin. Kubica's drive time will be limited to several practice sessions over the season however the Pole told Motorsport.com that any drive outside of his role within F1 would have been too much.
"Mainly it was due to the time limitation," Kubica said. "And because in the end I am quite busy with Williams.
"It was possible to do it, but it would mean that I would have had eight days at home in the space of five months.
"It was more the time, the amount of time that I could dedicate to this project. And I arrived to the point that after which I decided not to do it."
Kubica denied that the reason for his turning down of the seat was due to his injuries.
"I think it would have been too much," he added. "It is better to concentrate on doing one thing properly than two things which might become risky if you don't do them properly.
"It is a shame I am not in a position to do Le Mans. But in the end, I decided to concentrate on Williams.
