Lando Norris will start from pole at the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya. 24 of the 33 races held in Barcelona have been won from pole position. After a tense qualifying session where the Brit pipped Max Verstappen by just 0.020 seconds, he revealed his final thoughts on race day before the race began.

Norris needs 'to focus' to secure victory

Speaking to Sky Sports, Norris said: "If I can get a good start, I will be fine. I need to focus and not mess anything up. I am good at starts. And there are a few others better on the grid, but McLaren is good at starts. It's probably one of the places you don't want to start on pole, but it's an opportunity for us to go out and try and win a race," explains Norris before he leads the field down to turn 1.

During the driver's parade, Norris also explained that it's going to be difficult today. Despite this, he is ready for the challenge. "It's always going to be a challenge, it's a small difference between everyone. I want it to be an easy race, I want to be able to pull away and control things in my own way. But with Max behind with the Mercedes behind as well, I think it's going to be pretty difficult. So excited to get going, but we know it's going to be a tough race." Concluded Norris, who will be hoping to win a second career Grand Prix.
