Charles Leclerc may have
topped FP3, but he could find himself with a grid penalty for tomorrow's
Monaco Grand Prix after an infringement under the virtual safety car.
Leclerc's team mate Sebastian Vettel
hit the wall at St. Devote after locking up, bringing out the virtual safety car. Soon after, race control released this message:
"VSC procedure infringement involving car 16 (LEC) will be investigated after the session."If Leclerc is found to have made an infringement, he could be facing a three-place grid penalty, adding to
Ferrari's woes.
The Monegasque, in his home race, has looked the most likely to challenge the Mercedes duo but a grid penalty would severely affect those plans, especially given the mature of the track, with overtaking next to impossible.
