Leclerc explains: 'We've been working in the best way possible'

Ferrari has been a positive presence in Formula 1 so far. Where the Italian team had to deal with a lot of disappointments in 2020, this year they are fighting with McLaren for third place in the championship. Charles Leclerc is satisfied with how things are going this season.

The driver did an excellent job in Barcelona. Although his teammate Carlos Sainz finished seventh, Leclerc was in fourth place at the end of the race. He only had to let Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas ahead of him. Leclerc, therefore, feels that Ferrari can compete well again this season.

"I don't think there's a big weakness like there was maybe a bit more last year on the race pace," judged the driver in conversation with Crash.net. "I feel like this year it's a lot more balanced and we are actually stronger in qualifying and in the race, so it's good." Leclerc thought his team was very strong especially in Imola."In Bahrain for me, I didn't do a good job personally to keep the tyres as well as I could have done. And in Portimao on my side, it was quite good too."

It is in contrast to last year, in which almost everything was disappointing for Ferrari. "Last year was definitely a difficult season to accept where we were,” Leclerc added. “But I think the team has done a great job accepting pretty quickly that we are gonna step back and then we've been working in the best way possible."
