Charles Leclerc has insisted he "made a mistake" on the last lap of qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix, and will start tomorrow in fourth-place.
Leclerc had to settle for fourth, after his team-mate
Sebastian Vettel finished just ahead of him.
Mercedes locked out the front two places, with
Valtteri Bottas qualifying on pole for the first ever time in China.
The Monegasque driver is very mixed about how the weekend has gone so far, for himself, and
Ferrari - probably still impacted by two weeks ago when he suffered major disappointment in Bahrain.
"On the one hand, I am very happy because after the FP3, I was a little lost, we missed a lot of performance, I did not feel comfortable with the car," Leclerc said to Canal +.
"We've taken a few steps in the right direction for qualifying, and I think I've made quite a big step forward in steering too, so that's why I'm happy. After, there was the potential to do better today and I made a mistake in the last lap, so I'm disappointed, you get to know me! I'm disappointed when I do not do the job right. We will try to catch up tomorrow."
