After an incredible performance from Sauber rookie Charles Leclerc in which he finished sixth, he admitted that normally the team wouldn't be able to finish as high as he did, which only made him happier about his race.
The Monegasque was voted driver of the day as he accumulated more points for Sauber on Sunday than the team did during the entirety of 2017.
"This is just unbelievable," the rookie said in jubilance after the race.
"Everything fell into place today.
"We made exactly the right decisions at the right time, and we were in the right spot every time.
"The pace was amazing, we could keep up with the midfield, which is crazy."
Leclerc knows that he doesn't have the best car on the grid, which is why he is so appreciative of his P6 finish.
"Under normal circumstances, we would never be able to finish this high, but it's great that we were there this time.
"I'm very happy that everything came off today."
Leclerc definitely put himself on the map in Baku. If there were people who still doubted him after being crowned Formula 2 champion, they probably are convinced by now. That move on Alonso at the end, and finishing in P6 in a freaking Sauber, that's quite amazing. Hats off to Leclerc, he's definitely one to watch.
