Peter Windsor is praising
Charles Leclerc after the
Australian Grand Prix. The former
Williams team manager has been an outspoken fan of Leclerc on his YouTube channel for some time, so for him the result in Melbourne was no surprise.
Leclerc dominated at
Albert Park from start to finish. The Monegasque had been fast enough for pole on Saturday, but drove away from
Max Verstappen in impressive fashion on Sunday. The Dutchman could do nothing against the speed of the
Ferrari and according to Windsor that was partly due to the good work of Leclerc.
Top performance of Leclerc
''Another stunning world-class performance by Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. It's no surprise, he's a class driver. He is right up there with Lewis (Hamilton) and Max (Verstappen) in my view. All different, but all great drivers with an extra ability because of the subtleness of their inputs to be able to massage the car," Windsor says in
His latest video.
That quality came in handy in Melbourne according to Windsor, because where
Christian Horner thought the Ferrari's bouncing would cause extra wear and tear during the race, Leclerc had no trouble at all keeping his tyres in one piece. According to Windsor, from that point on the race was also run for
Max Verstappen.
