Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc saw his maiden Formula 1 win taken away from him in the final stages of the Bahrain Grand Prix with a mechanical failure, but the Monegasque vowed to come back stronger as he did finish on the podium for the first time in his career.
Leclerc was in the lead for pretty much the entirety of the race but had to yield after his Ferrari started to slow down dramatically. Both Mercedes cars overtook te 21-year-old, and he had to settle for third place.
"It happens. It's part of motorsport," he reacted immediately after the race.
"Unfortunately today it wasn't our day. But the team has done an amazing job to recover from Australia.
"Of course I'm extremely disappointed, it happens in a season, and we made the best out of it.
"A very hard one to take but thanks to the team for an amazing car all weekend, I'm sure we will come back stronger."
A very mature response from the youngster, who did take home the point for fastest lap of the race. Something to hold on to, at least.
