It looks like
Charles Leclerc's move to
Ferrari could be back on in place of Kimi Raikkonen.
It is believed that there was a plan in place by former president Sergio Marchionne before he sadly passed away in July, where he wanted the Sauber driver to have a seat at Scuderia - and Ferrari now want to honour that wish.
Marchionne's replacement Louis Camilleri is actually a close friend of Raikkonen's and since Marchionne's death, the Leclerc to Ferrari rumours have slowed down.
Motorsport.com report that this weekend at Monza saw talks advance when Ferrari chairman John Elkann met the Sauber driver for a bit.
Leclerc was questioned about any possible talks taking place in Italy...
"John came earlier here with Michael (Manley), the new FCA (boss) just to introduce the whole team to him and it was a good opportunity (to meet).
"But it was just an introduction than to speak about the future or anything. I've never had a direct contact with Mr. Marchionne, but he was speaking well about me all the time.
"Obviously, it was always a pleasure to have positive comments, but I didn't have direct contact with him."
Leclerc has massively impressed in his first season in Formula One, with several point finishes this season.
Raikkonen has had a solid season for Ferrari, but it looks like they may want to take this risk as they look to get even closer with Mercedes.
