Robert Kubica will drive the struggling Williams car in FP1 on Friday.
Paddy Lowe has confirmed it will be “interesting” getting feedback from a more experienced driver.
The struggling Williams car scored its first points of the season last time out in Baku. Kubica will be replacing Sirotkin for the practice session.
“We have Robert Kubica taking part in FP1 in place of Sergey,” Lowe said.
“We have a busy Friday programme and will be interesting to get Robert’s feedback on the car.”
Kubica drove the car for a couple of stints in pre-season testing on the same circuit. He is pushing for a return to the cockpit on a regular basis coming back from a serious injury. The Polish driver has won once in 76 F1 starts.
Lowe will be hoping this experience will help Williams discover and fix problems with the car whilst testing upgrades ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix.
“We are bringing a reasonably significant upgrade to this race, but probably not different to most other teams. It’s going to be a busy weekend for us,” added Lowe.
The team find themselves at the bottom of the constructor's championship.
