Helmut Marko thinks that
Max Verstappen doesn't realize just how strong of a driver his teammate
Daniel Ricciardo is, as the Red Bull advisor thinks Verstappen goes too far sometimes to out-drive the Aussie.
Verstappen might be surprised by how strong of a driver Ricciardo has been in 2018, as the Aussie often struggled for wins before this calendar year while being a teammate of Verstappen.
"No, I do not think so Max knows exactly how strong Daniel is," Marko told FormulaPassion.
"He [Daniel] pushes to the maximum when it is necessary to do it and drive in a perfect way.
"At the beginning of 2017, Daniel seemed to suffer a bit, but later recovered.
"He realized that with Max it was the first time that he was facing an opponent of the same rank and so he focused on his strengths.
Was that a sly dig at Sebastian Vettel, a former teammate of Ricciardo at Red Bull? Anyways.
"Max is a bit quicker in qualifying, but Daniel shows he has a great race vision and an impressive ability to overtake.
"A way of managing that has always worked except in Baku," he referred to the collision between the two teammates during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
