The midfield battle so far this season has been incredible. The teams have been evenly matched and the racing has been close at every Grand Prix. In fact, the midfield has really been the main talking point of the 2019 season.
McLaren have dominated the 'best of the rest' battle but beneath them,
Renault,
Toro Rosso,
Racing Point,
Alfa Romeo and
Haas have all been battling for the remaining points.
The midfield battle at the Brazilian Grand Prix was exciting as ever and
Martin Brundle highlighted Alfa Romeo as a team that impressed him.
"Respect though to the Alfa Romeo drivers Kimi Raikkonen and newly re-signed Antonio Giovinazzi who ultimately finished fourth and fifth. And Daniel Ricciardo who recovered from a five-second penalty for a clumsy overtake on Kevin Magnussen to finish sixth for Renault," Brundle said in his
Sky Sports column.
With the 2021 rule changes making
Formula 1 more competitive fans can expect that the midfield battle will intensify and that we can see an equally exciting battle at the top of the grid.
