Former Formula One driver Felipe Massa has insisted that the Formula E champioship could be more compttitive than the Formula 1 competition.
Massa won 11 F1 grands prix, retired from the sport in 2017 after 15 seasons. The Brazilian signed a three-year deal to race for Venturi in the all-electric Formula E series.
"I think what makes things interesting in Formula E, and I really hope it happens with me, is that many drivers are able to win the race," Massa said to BBC Sport.
"Maybe many drivers can win the championship. I think it is a lot closer compared to the cars in Formula E and cars in Formula 1."
The beginning of the Formula E season takes place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
Massa will be reunited with former Williams reserve driver Susie Wolff - who has become the first female team principal in Formula E with Massa's Venturi.
Stoffel Vandoorne - who has been at McLaren F1 for the previous two seasons - will also be racing in the electric competition; for HWA Racelab.
Former Toro Rosso driver Jean-Eric Vergne is the reigning champion in the sport.
All coverage of Formula E for the season ahead will be live on BBC Sport.
