'Mazepin was good in Formula 2, but should do something else'

According to Ralf Schumacher Nikita Mazepin should leave Formula 1 soon. The former F1 driver is not impressed by the Russian's ability and thinks Haas F1 should find an experienced teammate for Mick Schumacher.

Mazepin had dramatic year

Mazepin made his Formula 1 debut in 2021 with the Haas F1 team alongside teammate Schumacher. Although both drivers failed to score points in 2021 due to a poor car, Schumacher was the significantly better driver.

Mick Schumacher's uncle, Ralf, also noticed this. According to the Spanish Marca Ralf Schumacher said on Sky Sports F1 that Formula 1 is not the right place for Mazepin. "Mazepin was undoubtedly a good driver in Formula 2, but this year he has developed in the wrong direction and should be doing something else."

Experienced driver at Haas

For Mick Schumacher, having a young teammate is not ideal either. The German driver can't learn from Mazepin. Ralf Schumacher would like to see a driver who can help Mick and who can guide the team in the right direction.
