Eric Boullier insists his McLaren team are looking to take advantage of the track unpredictably in Canada. This is in complete contrast to what his number 1 driver Fernando Alonso said yesterday.
McLaren departed Monaco pointless and have only scored two points since the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Boullier remains optimistic that the British team will get back on track this weekend.
“Canada has been a great race in Mclaren’s history, and we all love going racing there,” said Boullier.
“The Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve is a great street track, unlike any that we see on the calendar today, and is a really tough challenge for the engineers, mechanics and drivers.”
McLaren are in direct competition with Renault for 4th place in the constructors' championship. And Boullier has instructed his team to focus strongly on qualifying in Montreal whilst remaining optimistic for Sunday's race.
“We know it won’t be an easy weekend for us, but it’s important we focus on getting ourselves in the most representative grid slots we can be able to fight on Sunday,” added Boullier.
“We’ve had a couple of difficult weekends, so hopefully in Montreal, we’ll be able to see further progress and bring home some points - and the race trophy!”
