Sergio Pérez has sparked interest from McLaren for their second seat in 2019, Sky Sports have reported, with the Mexican now being one of four candidates to share the garage with Carlos Sainz Jr next season.

The Mexican has said he's expecting to stay at Force India next season, despite him dragging the team into administration last month. That eventually proved to have saved all jobs at the team, as they otherwise would have had to file for bankruptcy.

The other three candidates for McLaren in 2019 are current driver Stoffel Vandoorne, Pérez's teammate Esteban Ocon and British teenager Lando Norris, who is currently in the Formula 2 but is a McLaren junior, and their current reserve driver.

Pérez, of course, has history at McLaren, with the 28-year-old driving for the team in 2013 after Lewis Hamilton left for Mercedes. However, Pérez was let go after a single season, after which his F1 career looked over. Force India gave him a chance, though, and he thrived for the Pink Panthers, finishing best of the rest in the championship last season.
