Alfa Romeo's lineup in 2022 is still very much in the balance. With the possible exit of
Kimi Raikkonen and Vasseur acknowledging that the team may take on a fresh pair of drivers next season, the auditions to fill these two seats are definitely worth keeping an eye on. Last week it was the turn of
Formula 2 talent Theo Pourchaire.
The 17-year-old Frenchman was given the opportunity to try out the 2019 Alfa Romeo car during the test days in Hungary last week, as reported by the
official website of Formula 1. On the 18-inch tyres, Pourchaire drove an impressive 523 laps.
Positive reactions
"Yesterday a dream came true, I drove for the first time of my life a Formula 1 car. I remember dreaming of that day as a kid. I would like to [thank] the whole [Alfa Romeo] team for this amazing experience and unforgettable day," the driver said on Twitter afterwards.
The team was also pleased with the Frenchman's test drive, saying: "The young Frenchman completed a full programme throughout the session: a good job and the perfect send-off before the break!"
