Nyck de Vries had a dramatic weekend in Baku. The Dutchman crashed not only during qualifying but also during the race. The pressure on the AlphaTauri driver is mounting, especially after yet another points finish by teammate Yuki Tsunoda. Fortunately, De Vries can recover quickly, as a busy schedule awaits. He is looking forward to the upcoming races, he told GPblog and others.
Next weekend, the Formula 1 circus will travel to sunny Florida, where it will race through the streets of Miami. It will be a special Grand Prix for the Dutchman: "Miami is a [relatively] new Grand Prix, where I have not raced before. That's going to make it a really fun experience," De Vries said. But he is also looking forward to the races after that. "Imola will be the first European Grand Prix, and Barcelona and Monaco, I think are both very cool."
Whereas plenty of drivers think the F1 calendar has too many races, the man from Sneek is happy with it. "In Formula 2, you already drive more races in two weekends than in three weekends in Formula 1." Among other things, it helps drivers to get used to new racing classes faster. De Vries hopes to get into a flow with the busy programme ahead: "Yes, for me, we can just keep racing."
