The second restart of the Australian Grand Prix was chaotic and ended worst for Alpine drivers Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon. The Frenchmen both finished in the wall at turn one. Gasly cannot hide his chagrin in front of the cameras, Ocon does not blame him.
It seems to be the fault of Gasly, who 'hooked' his teammate. The chaotic restart resulted in many collisions, spins and crashes, but Alpine's was the most costly; not only in terms of damage but also in terms of points lost. For Gasly, the crash was even more painful. A reprimand for this crash could earn him a race suspension.
For Viaplay's cameras, the two Alpine drivers look very different. Ocon is calm, but Gasly cannot hide his displeasure. Ocon: "There were cars everywhere going off, coming back on track. Pierre came back onto the track and didn't leave me any room. But there are no hard feelings. It could have been anyone at that time, he came we spoke and he apologised"
Ocon takes home the positive points despite the dramatic result. For Gasly, it is a bit harder, but he is trying. Gasly: "I was giving everything. It was a nice surprise to be racing with Ferrari and to keep Alonso in my sight for the podium. I will try to remember. For the rest of it I have nothing to comment."
