McLaren have announced they will stop participating in Formula E. The team will now focus on F1, IndyCar, and they are also set to join WEC in 2027. The British team have announced their plans of no longer staying in the electric series.
McLaren Racing says that after a strategic review of their racing portfolio, it has decided not to continue participating in the FIA Formula E Championship beyond the current 2024/25 season. The team have always been committed to innovation and success in motorsport and see participation in Formula E as an important part of this.

Nonetheless, McLaren Racing state that it is necessary to focus on certain classes, 'and the decision will allow us to maximise future opportunities for growth across our key markets and continue to offer partners a versatile and impactful sponsorship ecosystem in the ever-evolving motorsport landscape.'

Zak Brown explains significant decision about Formula E future

"We are immensely proud of what we have accomplished in Formula E and the series plays a crucial role in the overall motorsport landscape, but now is the right time to explore other opportunities that align better with McLaren Racing's overall strategic direction - including our participation in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2027", the team's CEO, Zak Brown began.

"For now, we are focused on setting this great team up for future successby working towards securing a new owner. The team has delivered a strong start to the year and we intend to finish the season on a high. I’d like to thank the team, Formula E, our partners, and our fans for their continued support."
