Aston Martin have shared the first official images of Adrian Newey and Fernando Alonso together at the team's Silverstone factory. Newey, who worked for Red Bull Racing for nearly two decades, could began working in March after his gardening leave as managing technical partner of his new F1 team.

The photos show 66-year-old Newey walking with Alonso at their factory, accompanied by the following caption: "Foundations for the future." In a second photo, both F1 veterans pose next to an Aston Martin car.
In the past, before his move was announced, Newey expressed a desire to work with Alonso in F1. This feeling was mutual: Alonso too expressed his wish to work with the master designer one day.
This dream has now come true for both, as Aston Martin prominently present the collaboration as an important milestone for the team's future vision.
It is unclear if this was the first meeting in person between the duo since the start of the F1 season. During the Grand Prix weekend in Australia, Alonso indicated to GPblog that the meeting had not yet taken place, but he hoped it would happen soon - if not in person, then online. Since then, Alonso had a busy schedule, including a tripleheader with races in Japan, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia.
With more than 200 Grand Prix victories and 26 world titles to his name, Newey is the most successful designer in the history of Formula 1. His move from Red Bull to Aston Martin is therefore seen as a great strategic decision, especially in light of the new regulations in 2026 when the team switches to Honda engines.
