After a driver swap two Grands Prix into the season at Red Bull Racing, many are quick to draw verdicts about the Austrian team. Former team principal Guenther Steiner would expect some calm at the team to follow, but mentioned a candidate to be next in line for the seat alongside Max Verstappen.
To begin the 2025 season, Liam Lawson was the defending world champion's teammate. After disappointing results however, the driver from New Zealand was replaced by Yuki Tsunoda.
After his disappointing formation lap crash, Isack Hadjar has also been impressive for Racing Bulls and meanwhile, supertalent Arvid Lindblad won his first F2 race in Jeddah as well.
"I think they want a little bit of calm in there," Steiner begins in the Red Flag Podcast when asked about whether Lindblad would end up at the Faenza-based team next season.
"I mean, Hadjar could go to Red Bull from Racing Bulls. If Tsunoda goes, I mean, if Yuki doesn't do anything good, I think it is a test for him. I don't think that Yuki goes back to VCARB. Either he stays at Red Bull or he goes somewhere else or he goes home. And if that happens, Hadjar, obviously what we just said before, it will be that he's a candidate for that one, so they have a seat free," he said about the French-Algerian rookie.

However, unless Tsunoda leaves, he sees no reason why the Racing Bulls line-up would be different next year. "But at the moment I see to stay what it is, because I don't think they let Liam Lawson go after what happened in the beginning of this season. They will give him another second year at VCARB and then see what to do and Lindblad is very young. So I think we shouldn't now jump to the conclusion because he won his first F2 race that he's the next F1 world champion," the Italian concluded.
