Esteban Ocon racked up a double of seventh placed finishes on Friday practice for the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka.
The Frenchman was the fastest driver outside of the top three teams in both sessions and completed 60 laps in total during the day.
Ocon is still without a team for next year, with Williams being the only realistic destination for the highly talented driver.
Williams would be a step down for Ocon, who has been a regular points scorer since his move to Force India at the start of the 2017 season
He had been linked with a move to Mercedes before Valtteri Bottas was retained, and then his options shortened even more when Lance Stroll’s father took over Force India and looks set to replace Ocon with Stroll.
Despite the uncertainty over his future, Ocon is remaining concentrated on the task at hand, which is this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix.
Ocon is confident about the prospects of points in Japan after an impressive Friday.
He said: “It was a solid day of work to start our Suzuka weekend and I am happy with what we achieved.
“I am particularly excited because I think there’s still a bit more to come from our side and we can improve the car balance ahead of qualifying.”
