Esteban Ocon has insisted he is ready to "grab" any opportunity that presents itself with his new role in Formula 1.
Ocon is now the
Mercedes reserve driver following
Racing Point dropping the French driver for
Lance Stroll in time for the 2019 season.
The 22-year-old had a very impressive season for Force India (now Racing Point) last campaign and ran his former team-mate
Sergio Perez very close throughout the season.
"I am positive about my situation," Ocon said to RTBF. "I have a new role at a top team that has won many recent titles. It's also the team that has supported me for a long time.
"They have picked me up at crucial moments in my career, and now I'm on the team."
Ocon has been tipped to take over
Valtteri Bottas at Mercedes in 2020, if the Finn has another disappointing season for the Silver Arrows. Bottas was without a win for the champions in 2018 and the pressure is firmly on the driver to perform in 2019.
The French driver revealed he will be at the races and if any opportunities come his way, then he'll look to "grab it".
"I'll also be at all the grands prix and if an opportunity arises, I'll grab it," Ocon concluded.
