Esteban Ocon has been at the forefront of the summer break 'silly season' but the Mercedes reserve driver is fully focused on knuckling down. He's been reflecting on how he bounced back after the disappointment of being left without a seat this season.
Ocon had spent the 2017 and 2018 seasons with Force India who became
Racing Point midway through the season. However, he was released after
Lance Stroll came into the team after his father bought the constructor through a consortium.
The Frenchman was left without a seat after
Mercedes decided to stick with
Valtteri Bottas. Ocon's future is expected to be revealed in the coming days told the
Formula 1 website of how he knuckled down on his return to Mercedes.
“This team is so successful and has so much knowledge. That knowledge is priceless. I’ve worked so much on feedback, on just working for the team. In my position, there is no performance to gain on my side," Ocon said.
“The only job I have to do is to perform properly from what the team want in the simulator. At the moment, that’s what I’m doing."
