French driver Esteban Ocon knew from moment one that he would not score any points in the sprint race, he told GPblog and others. The Frenchman even finished eighteenth. The driver says it felt more like a practice session for him. The 'real' work will happen for Ocon on Sunday afternoon.

"It felt very much as a practice session. It was good to have some clean data that we can compare from this morning so that we can, as I said, come back stronger and fresh for tomorrow," said the Alpine driver.

Still, Ocon's camp is not so negative at all. "The car was better driving today. We were not going to score points, that was for sure," said the Frenchman. The French formation was able to collect a lot of data for Sunday's race, Ocon says.

"The race was too short, so we took a gamble today and we just tried and go on the soft tyres early, which wasn't the right decision, obviously, because we had to box again. But we've learned, we've got data, all the data we need to be ready for tomorrow and that's the positive aspect."
