Esteban Ocon has announced he would love to have a Formula One title fight with Max Verstappen in the years to come.
Ocon and Max Verstappen have a history of fighting for racing World Championships since 2011.
The rivalry began when Verstappen pipped Ocon to the post to win the WSK Euro Series title whilst the reserve happened in 2014 when the Frenchman won the European Formula 3 Championship.
Ocon said: “Charles (Leclerc), Max, those drivers are very, very strong. I’ve been racing with them since the very beginning.
“I know how good they are and I’m sure we’ll meet in the future again.”
Speaking directly about Verstappen: “It goes back as long as 2010, 2011.
“(We were) not friends at all. It was a very intense fight. It came out a bit too much at some point. Now we have no problem at all, we speak well together and he is a cool guy. Back in the day it was very intense.”
With spaces likely to come available in the top three teams as the leading drivers begin to age, this rivalry is something to keep on eye on.
