Esteban Ocon is looking to build on the impressive performances Force India have delivered over the past few races. The Pink Panthers had a slow start to the season, but since Baku, the team have had just one race when neither driver scored points. In Austria, the pairing took home 14 points.
Ocon has now moved into 11th in the championship, while Force India claw their way back into the midfield battle. Ocon confirms he is ready for the final back-to-back weekend push before the summer break.
“I feel ready for the final two races before the summer break,” Ocon said in an interview on the chequered flag.
“We have been finding performance as a team with strong results in the last few races, and I want to have two good ones before the holidays.”
The Frenchman hasn’t visited the track since 2016, but this doesn’t mean he has lost all of his Hockenheimring experience. He believes the track suits the Force India car helping their progression towards Renault in fourth.
“I have been driving there a lot in my career, first in F3 but also during my experience in DTM with Mercedes,” the 21-year-old added.
“I think the weekend can be a good one for us. The track should suit us because of the long straights and slow corners, so it’s a chance to score more points.”
Force India have managed to hold onto fourth place in the past two seasons. In 2018 they remain the only car from outside the ‘big three’ to have stepped onto the podium. How will they do this weekend? Let us know in the comments!
