Sergio Pérez will be looking to show why he belongs at
Red Bull Racing during the Turkish Grand Prix. The Mexican driver is fifth in the world championship standings with 31 points behind number three
Valtteri Bottas, so he could use the points.
Expectations were high at the start of the season when Pérez joined the Austrian racing stable. Where
Pierre Gasly and
Alexander Albon previously failed to come close to
Max Verstappen's performance, however, Pérez also found it difficult to cope with the pressure. His current fifth place in the rankings therefore seems to be the highest he can achieve for the time being.
"There is still a long way to go this year," Pérez stated in conversation with
Motorsport.com.
"I've been in this situation before and I can turn things around for the better again, I have no doubt about that. We still have plenty of races ahead of us and every weekend is a chance to turn the tide, so no, I'm looking forward to the continuation of this season first and foremost. We are also in a fierce battle for the constructors' title. It can still go either way." Mercedes versus Red Bull
Red Bull can also use the points in the Constructors' Championship. The Austrians are 33 points behind leader Mercedes.
