The F1 circus reaches Japan this weekend as the season enters its 17th chapter.
Paddy Lowe describes the circuit as a "classic" and looks forward to sending his two drivers out on the track. He highlights the many overtaking opportunities which he will be hoping
Lance Stroll and
Sergey Sirtokin can make the most of.
"Straight from Russia, we head to Japan and the Suzuka circuit. It is a race that we love as the enthusiasm from the Japanese fans is incredible," Lowe said in an interview on grandprix247.
"The circuit is also one the greatest, with a huge heritage in Formula One as one of the true classic tracks."
2018 has been a miserable year inside the
Williams garage. Without a doubt, they'll already be focusing heavily on the 2019 car, but that doesn't mean momentum into the winter break isn't important.
"It has many overtaking opportunities, but little runoff, so whilst being one of the more challenging circuits, it can produce some exciting racing. It has a unique figure of eight layouts and requires great driver skill to get right," Lowe, the chief technical officer at
Williams added.
The British team still haven't confirmed their driver line-up for next season. Stroll looks likely to move on to his father team, while Robert Kubica and Esteban Ocon are desperate for seats.
