Sergio Perez feels he can achieve a good result in the Italian Grand Prix. The Mexican was good for a fourteenth and sixth time on Friday, but thinks he can do something good during the rest of the weekend.

On the first day, the various teams were still searching for the right balance for their car. Perez, too, was working with Red Bull Racing to optimise performance, and by the end of practice, he felt he was succeeding.

"We have been playing around with the set-up, exploring different directions, so I think all in all we have pretty good information going forward. We have used different downforce levels as well, so we have plenty of data for us to review tonight which is quite promising."

Perez compares himself to Verstappen

Whereas Ferrari also showed positive results in the first practice sessions, Perez believes he can compete with the front-runners in qualifying and the race. In fact, the teammate of Max Verstappen, who has the same number of points as Charles Leclerc in the world championship, saw himself barely inferior to Verstappen.

"We managed to complete a very solid programme today and we are fairly comparable to Max’s car, there are just a couple of differences. I think the main thing will be the race pace and how the tyres last around this track will also be key for the race."
