Force India's
Sergio Perez has revealed that he has a few other teams he can go to in 2019 should he leave Force India, as the Mexican is currently on an expiring deal at the
Pink Panthers.Perez recently sued Force India so they would go into administration, something he said he was instructed to do by the team itself. When it comes to driving, though, the Mexican is in a good position, as he can choose to stay at Force India if he sees things are improving, or he can pull the plug at the end of the year.
“I'm lucky enough to have a couple of options,” he told Crash.net.
“Obviously we all want to be driving in the top two teams, Ferrari or Mercedes.
“But it's very unlikely that I'll have an opportunity there for next year, so you have to look at what is the best option for your future where you can show your best talents."
What teams exactly have made offers to him, Perez didn't say, but there are a few obvious candidates. McLaren, for instance, have already stated that they could be switching both drivers in 2019, and Perez would certainly be a nice fit there. Haas could be another option, with Romain Grosjean's future being up in the air right now.
"I just want to see what's possible for next year, which teams have a vacancy, and then decide,” Perez added.
“I will definitely wait to see what happens here, because I believe this team has the most potential of anyone out there out of the top three teams.”
