Sergio Perez says he is keen to redeem himself after a scrappy Singapore Grand Prix threw away a fantastic chance for Force India to gain some vital points. The Mexican took his teammate out of the race at turn three and later earned a penalty for a deliberate swipe at Sergey Sirotkin.
Perez will be under the microscope in Sochi with teammate Esteban Ocon seemingly out of a drive for next season, comparisons drawn between the two will be scrutinised twofold between now and the end of the season.
Having apparently "turned the page" since his Marina Bay madness, Perez believes that the team could have the pace in Russia to secure more points to drag themselves up the championship table.
“I was very disappointed with the result in Singapore, but dealing with difficult days is part of the job,” Perez said.
“I have turned the page already and I am looking forward to Sochi, where I am sure the outcome will be very different. I can’t wait to get back in the car and get the points the team deserves.
“I am feeling positive about this weekend and I think we’ll be competitive. Singapore did not bring us the result we expected but the performance and balance of the car were very good.
“If we can carry that pace forward to Sochi, we should expect a strong result. I think the new upgrades still have some potential to unlock and hopefully we will be able to do so in Russia.”
