Toto Wolff has insisted that Mercedes cannot afford to ease up between now and the end of the 2018 season. The Mercedes team have stolen away the momentum from an arguably faster Ferrari team to take the lead in both championships with just a handful of races to go.
Ahead of the Russian Grand Prix, Wolff explained that the Mercedes team wouldn't be easing up despite holding the momentum against their title rivals in Ferrari.
"It is better to have a lead than not, but there are plenty of points to score," Wolff told reporters.
"(We're) excited for the fight we will certainly have in the next six races. We'll continue to concentrate on every single session, trying to optimize the car in every possible area and we will go for the race win."
Despite having a record of success at the circuit, Wolff said that the team wouldn't take anything for granted going into a pivotal weekend in the championship fight.
"We have a good track record in Sochi but we know that Ferrari and Red Bull will give it everything to break our winning streak," he said.
"So we must fight as hard as ever to make are we bring home as many points as possible."
